Was the 'Top 10 Best UK MC's' List Fair?

Okay, so let me get the heads up. We are all aware of the list which was on MTV Base just a moment ago on top 10 UK MC's. The list went like this:

1. Tinie Tempah
2. Dizzee Rascal
3. Skepta
4. Proffessor Green
5. Wiley
6. Giggs
7. Devlin
8. P. Money
9. D. Double
10. Chipmunk & Lowkey

Congratulations to everyone who made it on the list, but there are some rising eyebrows. There were some names I was expecting to be on the list such as Ghetts  and Wretch 32, I could name a few. There are some MC's that have been working they're guts off, practically living in the studio but they're effort has gone unnoticed on the show this night. As well as fans raising their eyebrows about the list, Ghetts released his emotions via Twitter. But this doesn't mean that the names on the list on are the hardest working MC's. As for names that didn't make it on the list, they're efforts don't go unnoticed by supporters like us and we will keep supporting no matter what.

Now, rumors say, this is the original list that had been made for the top 10:

1. Tinie Tempah
2. Skepta
3. P Money
4. Wiley
5. D Double E
6. Devlin
7.Wretch 32
8. Proffessor Green
9. Giggs
10. Maxsta

The list was only changed a night before the show was due to be launched on MTV Base. The list was changed due to pressure. 2 MC's were left out, Chipmunk and Dizzee Rascal. It is fair to say that it was quite unfair for they're names to be up in the list due to pressure, they should have been put in the list due to their hard work, bearing in mind that Chipmunk has had a sold out tour, put out mix tapes and featured on some of the biggest street tracks recently including ‘Pow 2011′ and ‘Gameover’.

Well what can we say, there will never be a list that everyone will agree on as we all have different views. One man's worst can be another's man's best. Whichever the case, Ebony Sound will continue to show support to those who's hard work never go unnoticed.

Year Of The Females?

Okay, so I was just updating myself with the latest in music as per usual and I got a slight feeling that the ladies are going to do something big this year. I just have a feeling. Of course we are all aware of the gents like Tinie Tempah , Chipmunk, Tinchy Strider, I could go on, who have been making continous hits lately leaving their mark on the music scene. But it was today that I realised there's a possibility this year could be about the ladies.

Last year I discovered RD (Ruff Diamondz) at a UK Grime concert at the O2. Their perfomance on 'Do It Like Me' was completely amazing. You know that feeling you get when you are hearing a song for the first time and you fall instantly in love and you just want to keep on replaying the song becuase you feel you cannot get bored of it? Yeah, that is the exact feeling I got when I watched them peform live on stage.

I also discovered Cherri V, who's performance was very prominent at that same Grime concert.
Along with the recent likes of my ears, I have also discovered other females such as Amplify Dot, Envy, Lioness, Stush, Booty Luv and many more. Most of these ladies have been releasing huge hits as of late and have been making my iTune playlist a pleasure to listen to. These ladies may be popular to many becuase of their remix to Tinchy Strider's 'Game over' last year and their feature on a song called 'Born Ready' by Amplify Dot.

The ladies have been silent for a while, but I think that 2011 is going to be the year of the females. If you want to keep up to date with what's going on with the girls just follow them on Twitter or of course, stay tuned with Ebony Sound, always here with fresh up to date news within the UK music scene.

Giggs' UK Tour Cancelled By Police Again?

Giggs' UK Tour has been cancelled due to the advice of the police....again. It came as a shock to all fans when this happen the first time, but the second time running? It's getting ridiculous.

The hate and grudges held towards Giggs from the police are quite evidential. But this isn't a reason enough for Giggs to be permanently negatively stigmatised. Everyone deserves a second chance, and holding continuous grudges doesn't help the situation. Despite the fact that some would not support the content of some of the Peckham Rapper's lyrics, Giggs is still seen as a positive role model to some. Looking at his past as a former-criminal and comparing it to where he is now would be considered an inspiration to many youngsters today. Today the rapper is now seen as a respected Artist in the UK and America, someone who is trying to change his life for the better. When the police keep making such actions, it gives our young generation of today no hope, it gives them the mindset that once you are labelled by the police there is no hope for a better change. Such actions cause more crime and deviance.

Could they have advised the promoters because they feel the safety of fans will be at risk? I doubt so. Is the power of Giggs' lyrics that strong that they can create an atmosphere of crime wherever he goes?

Although advice from Operation Trident to the Promoters of the UK Tour stopped the tour itself, this does not stop Giggs. If anything, it motivates him even more. We will continue to support Giggs no matter how many more times the police feel to interfere with the Rapper's UK Tours.

Giggs anounced the cancellation of his tour last night via Twitter

Rihanna Plagarises Works of David LaChapelle In S&M Video

Redhead songstress Rihanna's famous raunchy S&M video has been banned in 11 countries, you would think it doesn't get any worse. Prominent US Photographer David LaChapelle is suing Rihanna for the video of her recent single S&M.

LaChapelle has stated that the video imitates the “composition, total concept, feel, tone, mood, theme, colours, props, settings, decors, wardrobe and lighting” of his work. The photographer also said that Rihanna had appropriated eight of his images into the video, such as a shot where she is shown in profile against a blue background with a piece of candy on her tongue.

Fans of LaChapelle were shocked to see the content of Rihanna's video as it showed quite a lot images and scenes were similar to the prominent photographer's works. They flooded his fan pages on Facebook and Twitter with curiousity. A source from his studio told the website Radar Online that fans initially thought LaChapell had directed Rihanna's video. 'Interns told us that fans were buzzing about the video and wanting to know if David had directed it' the source said 'Then the phone in the office started ringing off the hook, everyone was like "wow it's amazing-it's the exact same."

Here are some other remarkably similar images that were copied into Rihanna's video.

The video was directed by Melina Matsoukas who also directed the video for Rude Boy. Perez criticised the similarities and tweeted, ''The next time you make a David LaChapelle music video you should probably hire David LaChapelle.'

Uk's Homegrown: Bartoven

Freshly home-grown over here is a young and talented star in the making, Bartoven from South London. Now this guy here is going to be a self-made millionaire, you mark my words as I have said it on this day, on this blog. He is a  Rapper/Singer and he produces his own music, fully independent. If you are unaware of his music, I would recommend you to check it out, he brings the life out of pen and paper, goes into the studio and produces gold, quality music.
Okay, so I've had a mini interview with the man himself so that you guys can get to know a bit about this star in the making and what we should be expecting from him this year:
EbonySound: Tell us what you are about, apart from the fact that you do music, what's your style and who are your main influences (who inspires you)?
Bartoven: I'm all about having fun with no regrets and being myself without a care in the world. People often say I act like I'm in my own world and that because I'm always thinking about things in details with fascination and this shows in my music.
EbonySound: Yes I have picked up on that, but at the end of the day, how I see it is, the music industry is very competitive and your music has got to be unique. If your personality does not reflect through your music then there isn't really any competition. People want to hear something fresh and new to the ears. So yeah, do your thing, what works best for you.
Bartoven: My style is just keepin' cool and chilled out and not being afraid to release emotions in music when needs be. I mostly do Hip Hop, however I'd like to say I'm open with most genres apart from the unlucky few which shall not be named *coughcoughdancecoughcough* (laughs)
My influences are people like Ryan Leslie, Kanye West, Jay Z and every local artists around me that competes with me to help me up my levels.
EbonySound: So Mr Barto, you seem to have quite a few things lined up this year. As you have recently launched a website and started your own Tv series, Tova Tuesdays as well as your music, is it fair to say we should be expecting big things from you this year?
Bartoven: YES! as you know I've been known in the past for being 'that guy that bugs us on the internet' and yes I do what I have to do to promote my music because I'm unsigned and independent. So the goal for this year is to give more, but this is the twist I want a little something back
EbonySound: Well with all your hard work and efforts I'm sure your listeners will be giving you something back, I mean I've always been told, give and you will receive more. So what have you instore for us this year?
Bartoven: I'm going to be releasing an EP called 'No Excuses' which is going to be a 10 Track EP and will be sold for the small fee of £2. The people that buy this EP and going to get my album for free when it comes out and so I figured this scheme would make the situation Win-Win. Oh Yh! In Late March I got a music video coming out to the massive blue borough collaborative track 'Blue World Order'.
EbonySound: Oh okay, that sounds really great, sounds like a lot this year. I'll be buying my own copy of 'No Excuses', supporting the movement, so make sure you save me one. What is your main target this year, one that you strongly feel you must hit without fail?
Bartoven: Getting acknowledged as a powerhouse musician in Lewisham
EbonySound: That's a really good aim, but why not aim higher? Maybe aim for the whole of London. I strongly believe you can do that. I've got faith in ambitious and determine people. But thank you for your time Mr Barto and I sure look forward to seeing your plans take action this year!

Yeah, so that's how the interview went with Mr Barto. If you still want to get to know him more check out his mini-bio on his website as well as his music, just click the link below. The same goes for his Tova series and any enquiries you may have, just get his contact details from the website.

Wiley Twitter Beefing

Wiley

Chipmunk
As you know Wiley and Chipmunk have had a bit of 'beef' in the past, but is this a reason for Wiley to be 'hating' on Chipmunk's recent single? If you are unaware, let me fill you in on the story so far. Very recently, Wiley has been making provocative comments about Chipmunk's new single 'Champion' with US Singer Chris Brown. He has been making malicious statements about the song not reaching No.1 in the charts. "@chipmunk and PS congrats on your number 2. The last I checked 2 was not 1 and that's what you said to me previously". This was posted on Twitter along with other tweets aimed at Chipmunk before and after this tweet. He also tweeted "so @chipmunkartist you spent 90 bags on a chris brown feature and you went number 2 like rolex did.Ya see was it worth it or not". We should be showing support towards our fellow UK artists, bringing out the best in true ebony sound. Striving for success and recognition.
