Overnight Celebrity

Surely by now you have all heard of the talk of the town, young raunchy teenage rapper OG Niki from Birmingham. OG Niki got fame for her raw sexual lyrical content and the rythmic tight flows of her rapping. Now this has become a very controversial topic as some do not condone the young rapper's choice of lyrics as they see it as too explicit and demeaning to women. However, some praise the young rapper for being 'real'. Either way, loved or hated, the young rapper has become an overnight success. OG Niki became worldwide trending topic on twitter, her video gained well over a thousand views in less than 24 hours of uploading it, her video was also put on Worldstar Hiphop. For those of you who still don't know about this OG Niki girl, check out the video that got her where she is now.

The young rapper has already worked with artists such as Wiley,  Benny Banks, Sneakbo, Margs and many more to come. Heres a video of her first interview with DespaCam after the Grimeblog video of her freestyle was posted. In this video, Niki talks about the reaction of her parents, how things have changed since the video and what she intends to do next.

Similar to her interview with DespaCam, heres a video of her latest interview with Grime Daily uploaded this morning and has already gained over a thousand views.

Album Review: Transition by Chipmunk

From freestyling in youth clubs and playgrounds to creating big hits with big names from the US. Young UK rapper has come a long way. For those who have listened to him from the time he was sending podcasts to BBC 1xtra and sending videos to Channel U (before it was renamed Channel AKA) would know. He became widely recognised in London for his hit 'Fire Alie'. UK Rapper started off as a grime artist but eventually changed his style of music allowing it to open to wider audiences. Chipmunk has done the UK proud and smashed it with his latest album Transition. The album we have all been waiting for. This album features collaborations from big names such as Trey Songs, Keri Hilson, Chris Brown and Movado. Wow! Now to me, that's pretty impressive.

Chipmunk says, “I've transitioned from a boy to a man,". Well he certainly has and his Transition album certainly reflects it. If you still haven't listened to the album, you can hear a preview on iTunes before you purchase it. It’s an album I recommend you buy without a doubt. The album receives 4 stars from me. My only critic is the song he featured with Trey Songs. Well, we all have different taste buds I must say, to some it may be a heavenly sound, but it just wasn't my cup of tea personally. But other than that, I was not disappointed by any other song on the album, I completely loved it and I will continue to support Chipmunk like I did from the start! Well done Chippy, you smashed it on this one!

I'm back!

Hey guys! okay, first things first, my apoplogies for the negligence of this blog. I have been very busy believe me, so I haven't had enough time on my hands to blog lately. I know, this is very bad and it's no excuse but it will be up and running again very soon I promise!

Was the 'Top 10 Best UK MC's' List Fair?

Okay, so let me get the heads up. We are all aware of the list which was on MTV Base just a moment ago on top 10 UK MC's. The list went like this:

1. Tinie Tempah
2. Dizzee Rascal
3. Skepta
4. Proffessor Green
5. Wiley
6. Giggs
7. Devlin
8. P. Money
9. D. Double
10. Chipmunk & Lowkey

Congratulations to everyone who made it on the list, but there are some rising eyebrows. There were some names I was expecting to be on the list such as Ghetts  and Wretch 32, I could name a few. There are some MC's that have been working they're guts off, practically living in the studio but they're effort has gone unnoticed on the show this night. As well as fans raising their eyebrows about the list, Ghetts released his emotions via Twitter. But this doesn't mean that the names on the list on are the hardest working MC's. As for names that didn't make it on the list, they're efforts don't go unnoticed by supporters like us and we will keep supporting no matter what.

Now, rumors say, this is the original list that had been made for the top 10:

1. Tinie Tempah
2. Skepta
3. P Money
4. Wiley
5. D Double E
6. Devlin
7.Wretch 32
8. Proffessor Green
9. Giggs
10. Maxsta

The list was only changed a night before the show was due to be launched on MTV Base. The list was changed due to pressure. 2 MC's were left out, Chipmunk and Dizzee Rascal. It is fair to say that it was quite unfair for they're names to be up in the list due to pressure, they should have been put in the list due to their hard work, bearing in mind that Chipmunk has had a sold out tour, put out mix tapes and featured on some of the biggest street tracks recently including ‘Pow 2011′ and ‘Gameover’.

Well what can we say, there will never be a list that everyone will agree on as we all have different views. One man's worst can be another's man's best. Whichever the case, Ebony Sound will continue to show support to those who's hard work never go unnoticed.
